Gentle Teaching: Sasha’s Journey of Compassion Beyond Boundaries

In the realm of Gentle Teaching, the essence extends far beyond the workplace—it becomes a profound way of life that transcends through our homes, schools, and the public sphere. It is a philosophy rooted in unconditional love and care, and for me, it has become a guiding principle that shapes every interaction.

As a devoted practitioner of Gentle Teaching, I’ve discovered its transformative power in various facets of my life. It’s more than a set of skills applied during work; it’s a mindset that I carry seamlessly into my personal spaces. Whether in clinical rotations caring for patients or providing support for the incredible girls I work with, the principles of Gentle Teaching remain my compass.

Central to this philosophy is the idea that everyone deserves to feel safe, loved, and engaged in their environment. This belief extends to patients, family, friends, and, most importantly, to the individuals I support. Creating an atmosphere of trust is paramount, and I take pride in being a person others can rely on. Trust, after all, is the foundation upon which positive relationships thrive.

Applying the pillars of Gentle Teaching has enabled me to navigate various situations with compassion and empathy. When caring for patients during clinical rotations, I treat them as I would want to be treated. Similarly, when supporting the girls, I consider how I would want to be treated if our roles were reversed. This mindset ensures that the individuals I care for feel not just supported but genuinely loved, fostering an environment where growth and trust can flourish.

One crucial lesson from Gentle Teaching is the importance of understanding others’ perspectives. Recognizing that everyone has a unique journey allows me to approach situations with an open heart. Whether facing challenges at work, school, or even in the grocery store, I remind myself that someone’s emotional state is often unrelated to me. This awareness helps me avoid making assumptions, mistakes, or passing judgment.

In essence, Gentle Teaching has become my way of life—a way to foster positive relationships, provide support at COR, and deliver compassionate patient care as a student nurse. It has enriched my personal and professional journey, making me not just an employee of COR but a dedicated practitioner of Gentle Teaching in all aspects of my life.

As I continue to learn and grow, I find solace in knowing that Gentle Teaching is a beacon, guiding me towards a more compassionate and empathetic existence. It is through these principles that I aim to create a world where everyone feels safe, loved, and understood.
