Embracing Unconditional Love and Respect: A Gentle Teaching Journey

Gentle Teaching has woven its transformative threads into the fabric of my being, reshaping not only my approach to supporting individuals with disabilities but also defining the person I aspire to become. Four years into my journey with COR, the initial excitement I felt was tempered by confusion about how Gentle Teaching would unfold, particularly the notion of supporting without restraints. It didn’t take long for me to grasp the essence: the crux lies in the relationships forged between support providers and those we support.

Love and safety have always held significance in my life, instilled in me through a childhood that emphasized respect and love for everyone. However, the depth of these principles reached a new level with Gentle Teaching. This philosophy champions the concept of unconditional love, urging us to lead lives that continually express love to every individual we encounter.

Reflecting on my upbringing, where I volunteered in communities less fortunate than mine, instilled in me the values of service and aiding those in need. Fast forward to today, armed with Gentle Teaching training and understanding, I find myself more attuned to treating others with unconditional love and respect.

My Gentle Teaching practice extends beyond formal settings, permeating my interactions with strangers, classmates, friends, family, my partner, and the individuals I support. Each interaction is a testament to the unique bonds formed—a richness I attribute to the infusion of Gentle Teaching principles. In embracing this philosophy, I’ve witnessed a profound transformation within myself, evolving into a more open and loving individual.

Everyday actions now echo the teachings of Gentle Teaching, creating a ripple effect that extends positivity and kindness. My commitment is unwavering, and I plan to continue integrating Gentle Teaching into every facet of my life. Through this journey, I aspire to be recognized not only as a Gentle Teaching practitioner but also as someone who spreads joy, kindness, and respect in every encounter.
